Resources for Your Journey Out of the Rabbit Hole

Whether you're knee-deep in a faith crisis, supporting someone who's questioning, or just trying to understand what the hell we're all talking about when we mention "shelf items" and "CES letters," you've come to the right place.

We've organized these resources for every stage of the journey – from that first uncomfortable google search ("wait, did Joseph Smith really put his face in a hat?") to rebuilding your entire worldview from scratch. Because let's be honest: nobody prepares you for what comes after you realize the "one true church" might not be so true after all.

A quick note: This stuff can be heavy. Some of these resources discuss religious trauma, family estrangement, and other difficult topics. Take care of yourself. Go at your own pace. And remember – there's no timeline for healing from high-control religion.

For our never-Mormon friends: Some of these resources might seem intense if you didn't grow up believing that your eternal salvation depended on perfect obedience to a 99-year-old man in Salt Lake City. That's because they are intense. But they'll help you understand why your Mormon friends and family members react the way they do to seemingly simple questions about church history.

For our believing friends who might have wandered in here: We know this might feel scary or "anti-Mormon." But we're not here to tear down your faith – we're here to support people who are asking hard questions. If your testimony can't handle exposure to different perspectives, maybe that's worth examining too.

These three resources provide different approaches to understanding LDS Church historical and doctrinal issues, allowing you to choose the style and depth that feels right for your journey. Whether you want comprehensive documentation, gentle exploration, or balanced analysis, these foundational texts have helped thousands of people process their questions and concerns about the church.
